
Stay Safe/Stay Home Alone Course
Real-world scenarios often call on children to respond to challenges. Does your child stay home alone? The Stay Safe! program teaches applicable and age-appropriate skills, while increasing and reinforcing a youth’s capacity to improve his or her own safety. Whether in their community or on their own, this group will be given better tools to Stay Safe! in a variety of different situations.

Prerequisite: Age 9+ (or completed grade 3)
By enrolling your youth in this course, you can rest assured that they will learn how to be responsible, respectful, and accountable when they are on their own. Our expert instructors will teach your child how to set and follow safety rules, both at home and in the community. They will also learn how to prepare for and respond to unexpected situations such as inclement weather, strangers, and unanticipated visits.
Basic first aid skills will also be covered, so your child will be ready to respond in case of an emergency. Don't miss out on this opportunity to give your child the tools they need to stay safe and confident when they are on their own. To enroll, your child must be at least 9 years old or have completed Grade 3.
Course Content
1. Importance of responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself
2. Importance of setting and following rules around safety when staying on your own
3. How to stay safe at home and within the community
4. How to prepare, recognize and respond to unexpected situations, (i.e. inclement weather, strangers, unanticipated visits)\
First Aid Content:
Check, Call, Care (includes phoning EMS/911), recovery position, conscious choking (adult/child/alone), feeling unwell, asthma (includes use of inhaler and spacer), anaphylaxis (includes use of EpiPen), poisoning, insect stings, wound care (i.e. minor cuts and scrapes, splinters, nosebleeds, bumps and bruises, life-threatening bleeding, burns)
